Vice President of Education, The Children's Aid Society
As Vice President of Education, Drema Brown ensures the success of The Children's Aid Society's efforts to provide high-quality educational services to children living in under-resourced neighborhoods. Ms. Brown will also drive the development of CAS's first community charter school in the South Bronx and provide strategic direction in our efforts to meet the highest educational outcomes for children in the communities we serve in New York City.
Ms. Brown comes to CAS from New Leaders for New Schools, an organization working to improve the quality of education in urban schools, where she led the design, development and delivery of leadership curriculum for its national principal training program.
Previously, Ms. Brown served as principal of P.S. 230X Dr. Roland N. Patterson in the Bronx, where she successfully launched a comprehensive plan to dramatically improve student achievement, increase math and reading proficiency, fund both library and technology upgrades and elevate the school from the state’s SURR (Schools Under Registration Review) list.
Ms. Brown is a graduate of Yale University and also holds an Ed.M. from Harvard University.
